Jamison Ruoff began his college career at the University of Notre Dame where he earned bachelor degrees in Liberal Studies and Computer Applications. As part of the Computer Applications curriculum, Mr. Ruoff was exposed to various design and digital media software packages, laying early groundwork for the design and drafting tools he would use years later. Jamison was an honor roll student and graduated in May 1999.

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Ruoff joined Cisco Systems in Research Triangle Park, NC as a project manager in the company’s Internet Commerce division. His job duties involved development, deployment, testing, and support of internet commerce applications integrated into the company’s website.

Mr. Ruoff resigned from Cisco Systems in the fall of 2002 and enrolled in the Master’s of Architecture program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. During his time at Virginia Tech, Jamison was exposed to a wide range of architectural design theories, principles, and methodologies that contributed to the formation of his own architectural understanding, ideas, and designs. He also completed coursework in structural engineering, including the design of steel, reinforced concrete, and timber structures. Jamison also gained valuable knowledge in the disciplines of building construction and material studies, urban planning, and graphical/print design while at Virginia Tech.

Upon leaving Virginia Tech, Mr. Ruoff was employed by Blue Ridge Timberwrights, a heavy timberframing design, fabricating, and erecting company in Christiansburg, Virginia that specialized in high-end custom residential projects. While with Blue Ridge Timberwrights, Jamison participated in all aspects of the timber frame design and construction process. He began working in the shop where he gained a thorough understanding of the fabrication and assembly process including timber framing’s signature joinery techniques. He went on to become a member of the timber frame design team, which entailed assistance with the development of architectural floor plans as well as development of shop drawings detailing the complex joinery of timber members for fabrication in the shop.

In October 2005, Mr. Ruoff joined Andrew Consulting Engineers as a structural drafting technician. He has since assumed the role of head drafting technician and also functions as an engineering assistant, completing calculations and managing the development of structural drawing sets for a variety of projects.
